About the Adopt-A-Highway Program:
Adopt-A-Highway is a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) program designed to help keep the state's highway roadsides clean and attractive.

Volunteers will check-in at Allegan County United Way at 9:00 AM. After checking in, volunteers will safely disperse along the 2-mile stretch of highway and begin clean-up. The duration of this event will last approximately 1-2 hours. 

Check-in includes receiving trash bags, trash bag ties, trash picker, gloves, MDOT high visibility vest, water/snack, and signing a waiver.

Check-out includes communicating when you are safely finished to the event director; communication can include texting, calling, or stopping by Allegan County United Way. Check-out also includes returning any trash pickers, if used.

Individual and Team

Volunteers should: Be in good health with good sight and hearing.Wear light-colored clothing that covers arms and legs.Wear appropriate shoes or boots, and a hat. Wear clothing that will not divert the attention of motorists during cleanup activities.Wear clothing that will not impair vision or movement during cleanup activities.
