Volunteer as a Lakeshore Food Rescue Driver!
Community Action House

From 06/13/2023 to

Lakeshore Food Rescue is a community-powered initiative of Community Action House, that aims to End Food Waste, Fight Hunger and Mobilize the Community. Our goal is to turn Excess Food into Food Access. We partner with food retailers, volunteer drivers and local non-profit partners to connect surplus food with individuals and families who are experiencing food insecurity.

If you want a volunteer opportunity that is quick, flexible and impactful, be a Lakeshore Food Rescue Driver!

Food rescue is an effort that prevents food from going to waste, and distributes it to people who lack reliable access to adequate food. Rescued food can come from various sources, including grocery stores, restaurants, farms, and food processing facilities

Through the Food Rescue Hero app, volunteers are notified when food rescue pick-ups are available (like Uber – for food!). Volunteer as much or as little as you'd like, on your schedule. Claim a food rescue route through the app whenever it's convenient for you. Or, sign up for a recurring route at the same time, same place each week.

We are scheduling volunteer orientations in June and plan on launching the Food Rescue Hero app in the Holland/Zeeland area in July!
