Bridges of Hope, Allegan County is a non-profit organization whose mission is "compassionately empowering individuals to build resilient communities" Building the BridgeWe are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people escape the cycle of poverty. We offer hope for the future and the resources needed to create meaningful change. Resources can be mental, physical, emotional, social, cultural, or spiritual. They include things like trust, motivation, persistence, relationships, perspective, and resiliency. Access to these resources leads to walking away from poverty. We use a workshop format, where participants reflect upon and assess both themselves and their circumstances, learning new ways of thinking about their challenges. They then set realistic goals, and together move away from poverty. Our 8-week, 16-session workshop is for adults or teens, and use a small group setting with a facilitator and encouragers, to build relationships and learn about personal and community resources.Discovering the BridgeBridges of Hope, Allegan County offers a one-day seminar for service providers, educators community leaders, employers, and churches. Attendees learn a basic structure for understanding poverty and gain a new lens through which they can view themselves, their clients, their employees, and the community. They can then incorporate ideas and techniques from the workshop to make changes to their own processes and systems that will break down barriers and improve relationships and outcomes.
